On May 24,2018,as Children's Day on June 1 approached,the Youth League Committee and Student Union of Jilin City Vocational and Technical College,under the leadership of the Party Committee,organized some League members and student representatives to visit the teachers and students at Jilin Provincial Orphan School.
When the bus carrying the students and supplies arrived in front of the office building,Director Sun from the school’s donation office and some of the orphanage students were already waiting outside the entrance on the first floor.To express their care for the orphans,the students immediately began unloading the donated items as soon as they got off the bus.Once the items were arranged,the event titled"City College Visits the Orphan School"officially began.
First,Director Sun of the orphan school delivered a speech on behalf of the school.While welcoming City College’s return to the orphan school,she also expressed sincere gratitude for the college’s years of consistent care and attention toward the institution.Zhang Zhiyong,Director of the College’s Student Activity Center,offered his most heartfelt blessings and expectations for the school’s development and the children’s growth.Subsequently,Director Zhang presented the orphan school with daily necessities worth thousands of yuan,encouraging the children to live with greater dedication and study hard.
After the donation ceremony,under the guidance of the school’s leaders,the students toured the exhibition hall,indoor and outdoor sports fields,and the arts center.From the leaders’introduction,they learned that Jilin Provincial Orphan School is currently the largest orphan school in Asia and one of the best in the world.Since its founding in 1956,the student population has grown from the initial 364 to over 800 today.The new campus covers a total area of 202,000 square meters,with a total construction area of 63,000 square meters,capable of accommodating 2,000 orphans for study and living.The gymnasium spans about 1,000 square meters,and the newly built indoor swimming pool is 50 meters long with six lanes.The teaching building is fully equipped with language labs,computer rooms,and multimedia classrooms.The student dormitories are spacious and comfortable,accommodating four students per room,each equipped with a telephone and a bathroom.The excellent campus environment not only provides the orphans with material security for living and learning but also allows them to deeply feel the care and support from the broader society.
As the students left the arts center,the event gradually drew to a close.In an interview with the media,Director Zhang Zhiyong stated,"For a long time,City College has always been concerned about the growth and development of the children at the orphan school.We visit them every year and do our best to provide them with quality living and learning supplies.There is a saying:'True love is priceless,and great compassion knows no bounds.'What City College has done is far from enough,but I hope that through the influence of our students,we can inspire more caring individuals to pay attention to and support the growth and development of orphans,allowing these resilient children to feel more warmth and care."
