　　From October 22 to 23,the grand opening ceremony of the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention(WCEC)was held at the London International Convention and Exhibition Center.This marks the first time the WCEC has been held in Europe and the United Kingdom.Over 2,500 Chinese entrepreneurs and more than 700 global political and business leaders from nearly 60 countries and regions attended,setting a historical record for the number of participating nations.Under the theme"A World in Transition:New Opportunities for Chinese Entrepreneurs,"this year’s convention explored development opportunities for Chinese entrepreneurs in the UK and Europe.

　　The 15th WCEC received high-level attention from both the Chinese and British governments.Gao Yunlong,Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC)and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce;Xu Yousheng,Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council;Liu Xiaoming,Chinese Ambassador to the UK;and Li Zhuobin,Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese,attended the event and delivered important speeches.Sun Jin,recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal,Standing Committee Member of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the CPPCC,winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Charity Award,Executive President of the China Shandong Business Association,Vice President of the Thai-Chinese Business Association,and Chairman of SJ International Education Group,was invited to the convention by Zhang Jinlong,Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the UK.

　　During the convention,Sun Jin,a nationally recognized advanced educator in China and Chairman of SJ International Education Group,reached cooperation agreements with six vocational education groups and institutions from different countries.SJ International Education Group will align with China’s new phase of steady and progressive development,joining hands with global Chinese entrepreneurs and business leaders to chart a new era of growth.

　　Prince Andrew,the Duke of York,attended the opening ceremony as Honorary Chairman of the 15th WCEC.He personally invited 12 of the UK’s most influential political and business leaders to form the convention’s Steering Committee.Distinguished British guests who attended and spoke at the event included:UK Secretary of State for International Trade Elizabeth Truss;Lord Rothschild,renowned banker;Sir John Peace,Chairman of the Midlands Engine initiative;Lord Hague of Richmond,former Foreign Secretary and Chairman of the Royal United Services Institute(RUSI);Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles,Chairman of the China-Britain Business Council;Barbara Judge,Chairman of the Astana International Financial Center Authority in Kazakhstan;and Andrew Palmer,CEO of Aston Martin.

　　In his speech,Xu Yousheng,Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council,emphasized that the trend of economic globalization is irreversible and that China’s sustained and stable economic development will bring opportunities to the world economy.He put forward three suggestions:First,"Seize opportunities and engage in China’s new round of reform and opening-up."He encouraged Chinese entrepreneurs to leverage their business networks to participate in high-quality development,becoming beneficiaries and contributors to China’s new phase of reform.Second,"Bridge China and the world to promote high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative."He called on overseas Chinese to foster win-win cooperation and openness,facilitating practical collaboration across various fields to advance the Belt and Road Initiative.Third,"Balance ethics and profits to uphold the positive image of modern Chinese entrepreneurs."He noted that Chinese entrepreneurs,as ambassadors of Sino-foreign exchange and promoters of Chinese culture,should uphold social responsibility,integrity,and lawful conduct to enhance the civilized image of a major nation.

　　Zhang Jinlong,Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 15th WCEC and Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the UK,stated that the UK is one of the most important and dynamic overseas investment destinations for Chinese entrepreneurs today.Whether in real estate,education,finance,or cutting-edge technology and creative industries,the UK continues to hold strong appeal for Chinese businesses.

　　At the closing ceremony,Dr.Jonathan Choi,Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and representative of the WCEC organizing body,announced that the 16th WCEC in 2021 will be hosted by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia(ACCCIM).Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad congratulated the announcement in a video message,expressing confidence that the event would bring mutual benefits to Malaysia and all participants.He looks forward to welcoming global business leaders to Malaysia.

　　The WCEC has not only strengthened the economic power of Chinese entrepreneurs and boosted their career development but has also effectively contributed to local economies in host countries and regions.More importantly,it plays an increasingly significant role in enhancing the cohesion and international influence of overseas Chinese communities.

　　Since its inception in 1991,when the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the first WCEC,the biennial event has adhered to the principle of"business-focused discussions while promoting Chinese culture."Over its 15 successful editions,each convention has had its unique highlights.Today,the WCEC has become a globally influential and representative grand gathering for the Chinese business community.
